Welcome back to my series of Alien reviews. I'll be reviewing every film in the franchise twice a week until Alien: Covenant is released on May 19th. Today, we'll be diving into the final traditional Alien picture, Alien: Resurrection. Alien: Resurrection once again stars Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, this time very over-sexualized. Because of what transpired in the ending of Alien 3, this is a clone of Ripley. Ripley #8. Winoyna Ryder is also here and she acts like a toddler about to throw a temper tantrum at every waking moment. She's very whiny, which is unfortunate, becauase Winoyna Ryder is usually really awesome. The plot doesn't matter really. There's space pirates who are all living quirks and the government made more Xenomorphs to weaponoze because the government is evil because of course they are. This is a bad movie and I don't feel like talking about it quite frankly. When I rewatched it last night, I very nearly fell asleep. Not from boredom, but from anger. There are so many pointless scenes. The boxing glove scene. The BASKETBALL scene. That is a horrible moment in which Ripley has the power set of Reed Richards for a second. Ron Pearlman, Hellboy himself, is bad in this movie. How?? The whole escapade is extremely over-the-top in a bad way. It's weird how bad it is when you take into account who the writer is. The writer is Joss Whedon. Yep. Avengers, Serenity and Buffy Joss Whedon. Knowing what he's capable of makes this an even tougher watch. Nothing makes sense. The Newborn is horrible. It graphically kills everyone but you're supposed to be sympathetic towards it because it has human eyes. The only good thing about this movie is the Xenomorphs look really good and there are some awesome kills and that's probably what will save it from getting an F.
