The Good Dinosaur Review

The Good Dinosaur is the newest Pixar movie written and directed by Peter Sohn. The movie is about what would happen if the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs missed and humans and dinosaurs coexsisted. That is just part of the plot. The movie is really about a cowardly dinosaur named Arlo befriending a human named Spot as he tries to get home. Most of the reviews I've seen for this have been good. It currently boasts an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. I think that this is a cute little Pixar film. It is not a game changer like Toy Story or The Incredibles, but it isn't as bad as the Cars movies or Brave. In my opinion, Pixar makes movies and films. I think you know what I mean. I view The Good Dinosaur as a movie. This is more of a kid's movie than a family movie. The movie doesn't have you thinking as much as Inside Out or Up, but it is still enjoyable. Parts of this are more of an art piece. There are outstanding animated haikus. If you don't know what that is, go look it up. There is some humor in this that had me laughing out loud, so that was a nice surprise. Also, those Pixar tears man. The end of this movie had me tearing up big time. Maybe that was payback for not crying during Inside Out. There are Easter eggs in every Pixar movie, and this movie has some but I could not seem to find two Easter eggs that are in every Pixar movie, A113 and the Pizza Planet truck. If you found either of these things, please tweet me at @itsgabethomas. On a side note, John Ratzenburger doesn't sound like himself in this movie and is barley identifiable. This movie was kind of gory, being a PG Pixar movie I mean. Just one scene involving a large insect was gory, but it was enough for a mention in my personal opinion. Should you go see the Good Dinosaur this weekend? That's up to you, but I hope this review helped your opinion. I kind of wish I went to see Creed today but hey, there's always next week. In the end, if you want a beautifully shot Pixar movie with cartoony dinosaurs, some great humor, sad moments, a good childish element, some out of place moments, and a riveting score, than this is the movie for you! Happy Thanksgiving!

SCORE: 8.3/10
