Hatchet III Review

Hatchet III is a 2013 horror slasher comedy directed by BJ McDonnell and written by Adam Green. It stars Danielle Harris, Kane Hodder, Caroline Williams, and Zach Galligan. I went into this movie only knowing peices about the other two but I was still excited. And is this movie awesome? Well...YES IT'S REALLY AWESOME! This movie is so fun! It has the laughs, the excitement, the gore, the gore, THE GORE! The gore is everywhere and it's amazing! This is one of the goriest or possibly the goriest movie I've ever seen. But I love gore. I adore it. So if gore is what you're looking for, it's in here. Oh, did I mention gore? Besides from the...graphic violence, this movie is suprisingly hilarious. I'm not sure it 100% qualifies as a horror comedy, but It's still funnier than most of the comedies that have been coming recently. This movie has a large cast of people from other horror movies in it. To name a few: Danielle Harris (Halloween 4), Derek Mears (Unfortunately Jason in the Friday the 13th remake), Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses) and Kane Hooder (Friday the 13th 7-10) playing the ruthless killer, Victor Crowley. I only have a few gripes with the movie but it is a b-movie slasher so not everything is going to be perfect. One of the problems I had with the movie was the whole ashes segment where they need to use the ashes from Victor Crowley's father to keep him in his grave or something. It made no sense and made the movie drag on a little bit. Another thing is the small jail portion. I don't know what it is but something about that jail seems off to me, and I don't know exactly what. But none the less, I hope that the Hatchet trilogy becomes a horror staple, because it damn well deserves it. In the end, if you want to see a LOT of gore, you like dark humor, good acting, a soundtrack with a lot of hard punk on it, you can understand the movie is silly and just appreciate it for what it is, than this just might be the movie for you!
