Curse of Chucky is a 2013 slasher flick. It stars Fiona Dourif, Danielle Bisutti and Brad Dourif. It was directed by Don Mancini. He directed all these Chucky movies and Cellar Dweller. Don't know what that is? Look it up. Chucky is back and Hollywood is once again trying to bring him to his original roots. Scary. They aren't going for the funny side this time. It's just Chucky, in a house, slaughtering a family. Pretty good stuff. So, who is he up against this time? Two lesbians, a selfish father, a little girl, a priest and our star, the wheelchair bound Nica. I, personally really like this film. It has tons of throwbacks to the original five films (And I love throwbacks!) , it ups the gore level, the acting is good, most of the characters are likeable, Chucky is fantastic as always and its the only Chucky movie that's certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. They show some flashbacks at the end because there is a twist and they are just flatout amazing in my opinion. The endings in this movie are like Return of the King if you know what I mean. There are just so damn many of them! But (almost) all the endings are pretty great. It was a nice sendoff to the Chucky franchise and it seems like this was the end. But, knowing most horror franchises, they'll just keep coming. But I hope they don't. I loved this end to the Chucky franchise. Another thing to add, there aren't too many jumpscares. Alright, now for the bad stuff. You do need to see the other movies in the Chucky franchise to fully enjoy this one. At least watch 1,2,4 and 5, they're worth it. Probably. Also, the movie wants you to think that Chucky isn't the one doing the killings until about halfway in, but by this point we all know that Chucky is a possesed doll who kills people. I'm not sure why they decided to do that. Another thing withe the movie is that it's not very scary, but I wasn't really expecting it to be and I'm not the guy who needs every movie to be terrifying. I'm just saying that if you're looking for a movie to keep you up all night, this isn't it. Other bad stuff? There actually isn't much else worth metioning and I don't want to tread into spoiler territory. In the end, Curse of Chucky is a very fun, intense, underrated and bloody slasher flick. It's now on Netflix so you guys should definitely check it out. It's not very scary and Chucky dosen't do much for about 45 minutes, but if you can live with that and you've seen the other Chucky movies, this just may be the movie for you! Overall Score: A-
